For more than two decades, I worked for some of today’s largest, global management consulting firms helping Fortune 500 organizations – and their senior leaders – navigate large-scale transformations. I chose The Mayo Clinic training and certification as a health and wellness coach to bring that knowledge to the organizational level. After many years of working with leaders and their managers, and navigating behavior change required by all levels through transformations, I chose to pursue my MA in Counseling Psychology (The Houston Graduate School of Theology/Kairos University) to help individuals deal with their life hurdles.
I made the career change to psychotherapist, while continuing to honor my experience in management consulting and business coaching. I began my clinical psychology work as both a primary and family therapist for a national residential treatment center for eating disorders – Clementines/Monte Nido Houston. From there, I was honored to join a private practice (The Antidote – A Better You); where I could expand my work with eating disorders, and counsel more couples and individuals facing life challenges and transitions.
Today, I work from both Houston and Woodlands offices. I am trained in several therapies, specifically RODBT (overcontrolled bio-temperament, perfectionism, rule-governed) and Gottman (relationships). In past roles, I also have taken intensive workshops and provided treatment in Emotion Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). In May 2024, I became a Certified Trauma Professional (CTP) and a PREPARE/ENRICH facilitator.
I am currently a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-A) and am clinically supervised under Meg Wilson, LCDC, LPC-S, NCC for the duration of my associate work. I am married to a wonderful man and can relate firsthand to many of life’s transitions. Becoming a counselor helped me successfully navigate the difficult waters of marriage, job loss and transitions, as well as parental loss, grief, forgiveness, anxiety and ever-changing relationships. I also suffered from an eating disorder growing up and experienced first-hand the benefits of counseling in helping me recover. It remains my unwavering desire and commitment: To help others and to pass on what I have learned to my patients.
My Approach
My style is kind and engaging. I believe in meeting clients where they are in life’s journey and pulling from various approaches under the third wave of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy: mindfulness, acceptance, personal values, as well as cognitive and behavioral interventions used in standard CBT. That said, my approach to each individual and couple is uniquely tailored to meet the needs that will best benefit each patient. No one treatment plan works for everyone – nor should it. My approach is solution-focused and active. Each patient I see will set their own goals for therapy, which we typically identify within the first session. I honor the courage and commitment every individual and couple who seeks therapy takes. Therapy is a journey. Yet many patients can gain immediate insights and solutions in the first few sessions that can improve the quality of their life – now.
